Lessons are available throughout the year. Our lounge is heated for your winter comfort. We provide everything you will need including bridles, saddle pads and comfortable well fitted saddles. We also provide ASTM-SEI helmets for our riders.

Summer Wind Stables' horses are well cared for and well mannered. We have horses and ponies for beginners through experienced riders.
Our course of instruction and our instructors assure you of a pleasant, safe experience. We pride ourselves in our excellent instructors and our friendly, family environment.

Our riders have excellent equitation and go onto succeed in any form of riding they choose.

We expose our riders to all possible equestrian activities to ensure a well rounded, fun and interesting experience. Many of the students go onto very successful equestrian careers because of the knowledge gained at Summer Wind Stables

Our riders have a variety of goals and we teach each of them the skills they need to trail ride, show and event, as well as for ownership of their own horse.

Tack lessons are provided at $10.00 per lesson, until a rider can saddle and bridle a horse without help.

     We have a detailed "tacking criteria", our riders need to know before tacking alone. This is a very important part of a riders experience and is a wonderful way for riders to get comfortable on the ground with the horse.  It enhances their riding experience to have confidence with the horse on the ground.


SHOWING
Please go into The Stables, Training and see pictures of our students competing at local shows.  We compete at hunter/jumper shows, eventing, hunter paces, and dressage.

Horse Clinics
Clinics are offered on a variety of subjects including dressage, lungeing and showing techniques. Clinics are currently being offered by our own professionals and other local experts. Times and dates will be posted on this website.

Shows

Summer Wind Stables has shows at our own facility every few months open to our own students. It provides an excellent opportunity for our students to work towards a goal to improve their riding skills. It also provides them with practice in showing before we take them to shows offered at other local barns.
                                                               

We go to the local Hunter/Jumper shows, Hunter Paces, Dressage Shows, and Eventing Trials. We also like to go hunting. Summer Wind Stables prepares riders for the shows and enjoy a reputation for having quality horses and riders.

Our goal is to have confident riders who excel in equestrian classes and horses that win their under saddle classes.
                                                                 
Drill Teams

Drill Team is synchronized riding to music. Our students have practiced and performed a drill team presentation last fall and we hope to continue on again this year.

Clubs

Summer Wind Stables has a youth group called Summer Wind Freedom Riders.  They meet weekly, with riding and ground lessons.   The youth group participates in a variety of fun activities, as well as charitable activities. The group sponsored a family for Easter last year, and did pony rides as well as bake sales to earn money for jackets. The group  is open to anyone who wants to join.

Eventing

Eventing is a three part activity.Riders participate in dressage, show jumping and cross country jumping.   Our advanced students have been eventing and love it.  Both rider and horse must be very versatile and disciplined.  It is wonderful getting out of the ring and into the field for both the rider and the horse!
