Summer Wind Stables' horses are well cared for and well mannered. We have horses and ponies for beginner through experienced riders. Our instructors assure you of a pleasant and safe experience. We pride ourselves in our excellent instructors and our friendly, family oriented environment. Our riders develop excellent equitation and go on to succeed in any form of riding they pursue. We expose our riders to all possible equestrian activities to ensure a well-rounded, fun and interesting experience. Many of the students go on to achieve successful equestrian careers because of the knowledge gained at Summer Wind Stables. Our riders have a variety of goals and we strive to teach each of them the skills they need to reach any goal be it trail riding, showing and eventing, or ownership of their horse.

Lessons are available throughout the year. We have an outdoor arena as well as a small cross country course. For the rainy days and cold winter months, we hold lessons in our spacious indoor arena. Our indoor arena viewing lounge is heated for your winter comfort. We provide everything you need including bridles, saddle pads, saddles and ASTM-SEI approved helmets for our riders.

We consider horse care to be a very important part of a rider's experience as well as a wonderful way for riders to get comfortable with the horse. We believe confidence with the horse on the ground enhances the riding experience.

SHOWING

Please see Stables, Training or Photo Gallery to view pictures of our students competing at local shows. We compete regularly in Hunter
Jumper, Eventing, Hunter Paces, and Dressage.

Summer Wind Stables holds shows located on the property for our students throughout the year. These shows provide an excellent opportunity for students to work toward goals and to improve their riding skills. It also provides them with showing experience prior to traveling to shows offered at other local barns. Our goal is to have confident riders who excel in equestrian classes and confident horses that steal the spotlight in under saddle classes.

Drill Teams

Drill Team is synchronized riding to music. Our students have practiced and performed a drill team presentation in the past and we hope to continue on again in the future.

Clubs

Summer Wind Stables has a youth group called Summer Wind Equestrian Team. They meet weekly, with riding and ground lessons. Some members also participate in the United States Pony Club. The youth group participates in a variety of fun activities, as well as charitable activities. The group sponsored a family for Easter last year, and did pony rides as well as bake sales to earn money for jackets. The group is open to anyone who wants to join.

Eventing

Eventing is a three part activity. Riders participate in dressage, show jumping and cross country jumping. Our advanced students have been eventing and love it.  Both rider and horse must be very versatile and disciplined.  It is wonderful getting out of the ring and into the field for both the rider and the horse!
